Adrean Mangiardi

Adrean has been working at D-PAN since 2009 as the Video Production Director. Acting as the lead director and editor for many of D-PAN’s projects, some of his notable productions have been “You Brought the Sunshine” and “Fireflies“. Adrean is also a part of the core workshop team alongside Sean, Mark, and Teddy. In addition to working as the Video Production Director, Adrean has also directed all of Sean Forbes music videos. Starting his film education with the Film and Animation program at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, in 2003, Adrean was first recognized for his film, Paper Airplane, which was an experimental/documentary of his life as a deaf individual and the impact he had on his family. In 2005, he won the Deaf Rochester Film Festival Student Honorable Mention Award for Paper Airplane. In that same year, Larry Hott of Hott Productionsviewed Paper Airplane at the festival and offered him an opportunity to produce another short film for Hott’s PBS affiliated production, which was released in 2007. Adrean thus creatively crafted yet another award-winning film, Equilibrium, based on his experience with bilateral cochlear implants. In 2006, he won the School of Film and Animation Department Chair’s Award at RIT for his senior thesis film, The Calabrian’s Feast, where he originally shot in the village in Southern Italy. In 2009, he received MFA emphasizing in Film/Video/New Media in The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and created an experimental film, Deprivation/Stimulation, which won the Best Experimental in the Toronto International Deaf Film & Arts Festival and also nominated in the Best Experimental at the Deaffest (UK) 2009 Gala Awards. Currently, he is working as a Director of Film/Video in D-PAN Productions in Ferndale, Michigan. He also owns Mangiardi Films, a full production service, and has ongoing projects in Detroit and various locations. More Info
