Q: What kind of recruiting process is in place to employ candidates with disabilities?
A: We have an outpouring amount of individuals who have heard of us through word of mouth within the IDD community. Our staff and other special needs candidates have access to inclusive workforce information through DSACT, the Arc, and their educational institutions.
Q: What kind of training is given to new employees to get them ready for the job? What is the usual training duration?
A: Employees receive a handbook with visual aids prior to their first day. On-site training consists of proper food handling skills, how to brew coffee, guest experience skills to properly greet and take orders. Our staff are also responsible for computer transactions as well as calculating daily transaction reports. Usually our training will consist of about a week of learning the ropes. Each individual is different though and may take more time to learn the above skills.

A: Communicating the importance of inclusion is crucial. Having an inclusive workforce boosts creativity and innovation and even attracts talented individuals. It is imperative for companies to introduce a more all-inclusive work environment. By taking action and communicating the importance of inclusivity within the workforce, will accelerate awareness.
