Inspiration behind Racing for Orphans with Down Syndrome (RODS) The ‘seed’ for Racing for Orphans with Down syndrome (RODS) was planted in 2007 when founder and President, Brady Murray’s life changed forever. As Brady held his newborn son in his arms, the doctors told him his son had Down syndrome. What seemed initially as an overwhelming challenge, changed quickly as Brady realized that having a child with Down syndrome could be an amazing “blessing!’ With his ability to show unconditional love, laughter and joy to others, Nash himself, became the inspiration behind the creation of RODS!
Who can benefit from Racing for Orphans with Down Syndrome (RODS) At the heart of the organization, orphans with Down syndrome find homes, and adoptive families are financially capable of adopting those children. The RODS athletes that race for this organization have the benefit of 'racing for a cause' to make a difference, while staying actively fit and healthy. Youth RODS Jr. Teams are also involved, teaching youth to work towards team goals, to make a difference for these orphans.
Our message The general message we tell our athletes, are to become a "RODS Hero" and make a difference, one child at a time."
