Making a difference in the community for people with disabilities We attend as many local markets and school events as we can, not only selling our products but raising awareness by simply being visible. I(Trish O'Dwyer) have found that everyone with a connection to autism or special needs no matter how great or small always stops to speak with me and we have shared information, contacts and stories. It is a privilege and deeply moving at times.
Inspiration behind Autism Threads Ltd Wanting to change peoples perceptions of autism and to provide positive and informative visual cues. Autism is not visually recognisable, people don't tend to ask, and sadly the more negative autism behaviours are so often perceived by others in the wrong way. People cannot fully accept autism unless they understand and how will they understand if they are not informed? We want to start conversations by encouraging autism families to be proud and to share their stories so others can learn.
Who can benefit from Autism Threads Ltd EVERYONE. Some of our products are specific to the wearer and their parent/carer; some are designed to be positive and uplifting about autism in general for autism families, relatives, friends to embrace, and some are generic cool, fun, logo design products that anyone can wear or use to help us raise awareness and start conversations. 10% of our profits are donated to The National Autistic Society so you will be looking good, feeling good, and doing good all in a single t-shirt/accessory.
Our message Autism is a journey, take one day at a time and one step at a time, add coffee. You are not alone.
