“Dreams do come true” – Chef with Down syndrome setting perfect example by opening food truck
“Dreams do come true for those who dare to believe in themselves”.-Bryant McGill. Every one of us would love to dream and always wish for them to come true. Austin is proving that all hard work is always rewarded. At age 21 in order to accomplish his dream of becoming as chef he attended a vocational program at Eastern New Mexico University designed for people with limited abilities. He decided to open his own food truck and spent two days learning the ins and outs of frankfurters at Vienna Beef’s Hot Dog University in Chicago. His dedication and quick learning are very inspirational and motivating.
What inspired you to start your own food truck business? What is the one thing you would like to add to your menu?A: I wanted to sell hot dogs. I want people like me to have a job and be on their own, so selling hot dogs was something I could do for my own business.

What is the best thing you like about your food?A: It’s good and my Straw Dawg is the best hot dawg ever.
What feedback/compliments have you received?A: Everyone loves my hot dawgs. They love the Straw Dawg. I am an inspiration for others like me to be able to own my own business.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?A: I want to be a millionaire and provide jobs for a lot of people and people with disabilities.
Can you tell us more about “The Each & Everyone Foundation”?A: EEO is a foundation that supports vocational awareness, education and training of adults with different abilities. Austin’s Underdawgs is a venue to create funding for EEO through charitable donations given from hot dawg sales.
