An autistic photorealistic pencil Artist
Remrov is using autism as a favorable catalyst for drawing very precise and detailed work. Remrov not only spends few 100 hours on every art but also gifted with lot of patience for coming up with such a miraculous drawings.
How has autism benefited you in your art?H: As you might have seen I make very photorealistic and detailed pencil drawings. Because of my autism I see the whole world in tiny little details, and it works this way with drawings too. I don't think that if I didn't have autism, I would be able to make my drawings so photorealistic. Besides that my drawings take a lot of patience, and I think my autism helps me with that too, to focus on one thing for so long.
Which is your favorite creation and why?H: I have a few favourite drawings. One is my first lion drawing, and the second is my rhino drawing. When I'm making drawings I am almost never totally satisfied with them, I always see flaws, but with these two I don't see flaws. Then I have one other drawing which is also my favourite, my coloured pencil drawing of my little feathered friend Pilaf. And this is my favourite because Pilaf means so much to me.
What do you admire in art?H: My autism helps me with my art, but my art also helps me with my autism. My drawings help me to express myself, and to help people see the world through my eyes. They can see the world in as many details as I see it when they look at my drawings. My drawings help me to get out there, and to be part of this society. I sell my drawings all over the world now.
Do you think an artist’s soul reflects in his art?H: Yes I do think an artist's soul reflects in his art. I am a true animal lover for example and I think that when people look at my drawings, that they can see that. I always donate part of the proceeds of my drawings to good causes that help wildlife.
What are your other hobbies?H: Well my art, my drawings are my work, what I make a living with. And it's also my main passion. My hobbies are watching movies, listening to music, making puzzles (jigsaw puzzles for example), singing, playing the piano (I don't have a piano anymore though), and cuddling and taking walks with my pet parrot Pilaf.
Who is your inspiration?H: There are a few other artists who also make very photorealistic pencil drawing and they are my inspiration. Like Richard Symonds for example, I really love his drawings.
How can art play an important role for our special children?H: Art can help them express themselves, and it can also get them away from everything for a while. For me the whole world is extremely chaotic. When you're out and socializing there are so many things you have to focus on at once, which I personally find very exhausting. When I'm working on my art I only have to focus on one thing, the details of my drawing.
Any special message for our community?H: Believe in yourself and in your gifts. Don't let anybody tell you that you can't do something. Just follow your dreams.
