Rinku Hooda Interview

A young para javelin thrower champion making his farming family and country proud

Belonging to a farming family Rinku met with a tragic accident at the age of three. His left arm had to be amputated after it got trapped in a paddy-sowing machine. As he grew older, he helped his father with daily farm chores and continued his interest in sports by participating in school’s state level running competitions. Eventually Rinku’s interest towards the event of javelin throw grew and with disciplined training and hard work he won a gold medal at Youth Asian games and a silver medal in the javelin throw at World U-20 Para Athletics Championships in Switzerland. In 2016, Rinku became the youngest Indian para-athlete to compete at the Rio Paralympics.

The interview with Rinku Hooda was conducted by Uplifting Voices in May 2018. More Info
