Art serves as the primary communication method for a gifted artist with autism

Akira (Aki) is a fantastic artist who is using his creative talent for day-to-day communication. Since he speaks only a few words he expresses his feelings as well as his basic needs through wonderful art. He enjoys his artistic colorful world by making beautiful greeting cards. We are proud of Aki and his talent. Aki’s mother Yumi Yasuyama has answered on his behalf.

How and when did you learn to paint so beautifully?A: Aki learn to paint when he was little, he use his arts to communicate with us. He have communication problem, only talks for 2-3 words. He uses his arts to tell us what he want to eat, things he want to do, expressing his feelings & some of his arts where things he had experienced from all the activities he had tried.


Which is your own favorite art creation?A: Aki likes his greetings card collections.


What are your other hobbies?A: Beside paitings he likes to make some art crafts , water activities and walking in the park & beach


What is your favorite place to visit? What do you like about that place?A: Aki likes to travel, he usually ask us to take him on some places he find in Youtube, try different types of activities.


What do you like to do when you are with your friends/family?A: At home, he likes to help on cooking and watching anime with older brother, editing his photo and video and uploading it through youtube. he likes playing keyboard too.
