Young gifted autistic boy making a name for himself through his vibrant art
Drawing for Ha Dinh Chi (Nem) is the preferred means for expressing his creative thoughts and emotions. While drawing or painting Nem loves to concentrate on his work by humming to drown out other sounds. Through his young years, Nem has used his talent and simplicity to tell thousands of stories on anything and everything he can draw on including placemat papers from restaurants, notebooks, drawing papers posters and acrylic paintings. He is the first autistic Vietnamese child who has had a personal exhibition (“Nem’s story: the world inside each child”, Hanoi 2014). He has participated in various art exhibitions throughout Vietnam to raise autism awareness and his beautiful art is being used in different Vietnamese fashion and accessories brands with Tohe Social Enterprise and Ivy Moda. Nem has been honored for his efforts by gifts from the Lady of the President of Vietnam Mdm Nguyen Thi Hien and from the Lady of the Prime Minister of Singapore Mdm Ho Ching. His mom Phuong Nguyen has translated his answers to English on his behalf. We want to applaud Nem’s achievements and outstanding talent.
