Miles Evans Interview

Talented teenager with Down syndrome loves to capture the world through photography

Capturing the right moment needs some precise camera skills, a keen eye and a good sense of image composition. Miles, who picked up his first camera at age 7, loves to enjoy photography as his passion. His wonderful talent can be seen in every photo he has captured so far. We are proud of Miles for his brilliant work.

The interview with Miles Evans was conducted by Uplifting Voices in July 2016


Can you tell us how and when did you start taking interest in photography?M: Age 7 – I started taking photos at my brother’s cross-country running meets.


What is the favorite object you love to capture?M: Nature photos, especially trees


What is your favorite photograph so far and why?M: My photo of flowers inside the Lincoln Park Conservatory in Chicago. Because it’s so beautiful to see flowers blooming in the winter.


Which photographer influenced you the most? Which of his/her work do you like the most?M: My aunt Anne Evans. She takes me on photos outings where I learn new things and helps me with my photo card business. I like Anne’s city street photos.


What are your other hobbies?M: Playing sports (cheerleading & basketball & track) and listening to music


What is your the first camera you bought?M: The first one I bought with my own money was a Nikon bridge camera


Who is your inspiration?M: My brother Nate


What do you want to accomplish in next 10 years?M: Have fun in high school, find a great job, and a place to live with friends


What is your favorite place to visit and why?M: Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL because I love to hike there & take photos
