Young nonverbal artist with autism seeks art as a comfortable means for expression
Art is one of the best methodologies for conveying feelings. Alex, who is nonverbal, comfortably connects with outside world via art which can be seen in his beautiful colorful emotional creations. He is creating colorful multimedia creations from paper, tile, leather, beads, and other materials. Alex's mother Diana has created a business with Alex to provide him with occupational therapy as well as displaying his artistic talents. We are proud of Alex for his remarkable talent and creative work.
What do you like about art? How did you learn to create so beautifully?A: I like doing things that involve fine motor like making pictures from mosaics, beads, and sequins. I took some classes, but my mom and dad helped alot.
What is your favorite creation so far?A: It's hard to say. I like the bracelets and mosaic tables.
How much support do you get from your parents for your business? What is the thing you like most about your family?A: I love my mom and dad. My dad died in November and i miss him. We would go to craft shows together.
Who is your favorite artist?A: My mom always liked Mondrian, so she helped me to develop a style like his.
What are your other hobbies?A: I like swimming, walking, playing on the computer.
Who is your favorite celebrity an why?A: Elmo. I laugh all the time at him. I also liker to listen to Katie Perry.
What is your favorite place to visit?A: Any restaurant where I can have a hamburger.
What do you like to do when you are with your friends?A: Go out for a walk.
What is your favorite movie?A: All the Disney movies are great.
