Creative chef Sarah - setting an example
“I can and I will…” a very determined and courageous Sarah is a perfect example for our community. Her mom Valarie is a driving force behind Sarah’s amazing strength. Sarah and her mom Valerie have a very special bond which has resulted in a unique and innovative way for spreading awareness for families with special needs. Sarah has set an example by successfully running her cooking show “Sarah's Great Day”.
How did you get motivated to start your own cooking show?S: My mom and I started the cooking show when she homeschooled me half days in 7th grade. We realized how much you can learn while cooking and thought we should share it with others. (math, reading, sequencing, therapy for strengthening arm and hand strength)
What is your favorite dish from your show?S: My favorite thing we made was Parmesan Chicken Fingers.
How long does it take to shoot one cooking show?S: Four to five hours to shoot an episode. Another 5 to 10 hours to edit.
Describe your mom “Valerie” / co-star of the cooking show in one word?S: Mom my is nice. She is beautiful. She helps me with my cooking show.
What is your mom’s favorite dish that you have cooked for her on Mother’s day?S: Chocolate Chip Cookies!
How do you manage to balance your studies, hobbies and your cooking show?S: I work hard so I do great on my cooking show. My mom helps me with all my activities and school. (Best Buddies, Small Group and Horseback riding)
who is your favorite celebrity chef?S: Michael Daily. My best friend who has his own cooking show on YouTube called Sugar and Spice.
Any special message for our community?S: Be happy. Have lots of friends and like them a lot.
