Jacob was diagnosed with autism at the age of four and has always been a huge fan of superheroes. So much so that he created his own superhero character at an early age based on himself through his creative drawings. Jacob struggled in the classroom and found it hard to get involved in school discussions. His father Led found that he could better communicate with Jacob through his superhero drawings and the related stories. His father combined the superhero character and Jacob’s daily school lessons into flash cards to help and encourage Jacob. The father and son pair also incorporated the superhero character into JetPulse comics, a project to encourage and raise awareness about children and other individuals on the autism spectrum. This project allows Jacob to write his own comic book stories and shows others what life with autism is like. This project has also boosted Jacob’s self-confidence and improved his grades.

When did you start drawing? What is your favorite theme to draw?J: My Dad says that I started when I was 3 year old. My favorite things to draw is Batman & Robin, Spider-man, and making my own Jake Jetpulse Comics. I made my first comic when I was 4.

Which is your own favorite art project?J: Me and my Dad made a jake jetpulse reading book that I gave to all of my friends in school. I autographed every copy. my teacher really liked it too. We had a lot of fun.

What is the best thing you love about Jetpulse Comics project?J: I get to write my own stories. I can make my own bad guys too. That's fun. I like watching Daddy draw too he's really good. He's the best. We make cool stories together. I get to show bad guys how to be good guys.

Who is your favorite superhero? Which of his/her powers do you like the most?J: Batman is cool because he's smart. And so is Spider-man. But Batman needs a car and a grappling hook to get around and Spiderman can swing and stick to walls. Superman can fly. Jake Jetpulse can fly too. I think that flying is the coolest superpower.

What are your other hobbies?J: I like collecting superhero costumes. I have a lot of them. I have Spiderman, Superman, Batman. I have all different kinds. I like my Adam West Batman costume the most. But I need a robin costume that fits Daddy.

What do you like to do when you are with your family/friends?J: I like to play in the park and go for walks. Then we stop for pizza. My favorite is Pepperoni and black olives. I like collecting toys too.

What is your favorite place to visit? What do you like about that place?J: Daddy and I like to go to the movies. Marvel movies are the best. There's a comic book store next to the movie theater. They have a lot of cool toys and stuff. I want to be a comic collector like my dad. He has a lot of comic books.

Any special message for our community?J: You'll really like our stories. Me and Daddy have fun working together because we want to help all the kids in the world to get smart and enjoy school. I like helping people. That's my dream.
