Michael Korins Interview

soulful talented singer wants to inspire others by music

It is no surprise that a 2 year old boy who sang the first phrase of Beethoven’s fifth symphony grew up to become a talented singer and was the only vocalist in his school district to be invited to sing with the New York All-State Mixed Chorus in 2011. His musical achievements do not stop here. Michael was one of 10 individuals worldwide to receive the McCarton Foundation’s Genius of Autism award. He has also performed on Broadway as part of an awards ceremony. Last year, he ranked #2 on Autism Speaks’ “10 Talented Individuals with Autism who inspired in 2014” list. This year he was chosen to serenade the bride and groom at first of its kind “All Autism” wedding that was covered by ABC, Fox News and people magazine.

The interview with Michael Korins was conducted by Uplifting Voices in October 2015. More Info

Which musicians do you admire? Why?M: My favorites are Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Most of my favorite songs were written by them.

What was the first tune(s) you learned?M: The beginning of Beethoven’s fifth symphony. I learned it when I was two years old and used to greet people with the first phrase…Da da da dum.

What are the different types of genres that you sing in?M: I sing a little classical and jazz, but mostly I sing pop music, especially classic rock from the 60’s and 70’s.
